Fantastic experience from start to finish. The website was easy to use, the certificate looks beautiful, and the whole process felt special and memorable. Highly recommended for a unique gift!
What is naming a star?
A personal piece of the universe, written in your name
Naming a star is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give. You choose a real star, give it a name of up to 50 characters, add a memorable date and write a short dedication — and it’s recorded permanently in the Global Star Registry, ready to be looked up online whenever they want to visit it.
Whether it’s a birthday, an anniversary, a new arrival or a way to remember someone dearly missed, a named star turns a moment into a lifelong keepsake. Every time they look up, they’ll think of you.

✧ Name a Star FAQs ✧
Naming a star is a symbolic gift. You choose a name for a real star, add a memorable date and a personal dedication, and we record it permanently in the Global Star Registry. You receive a personalised certificate, a bespoke star map showing its position and a fact sheet to help you find it.
The star is real and its name is permanently recorded in the Global Star Registry, but star naming is a novelty gift. Stars cannot be legally owned, and only the International Astronomical Union assigns official scientific names, so your chosen name is a heartfelt keepsake rather than a scientific designation.
Every package includes a personalised star certificate, a bespoke star map, a fact sheet, a permanent Global Star Registry entry with online lookup, and instant digital delivery by email. Premium printing on 250gsm A4 card with worldwide shipping can be added at checkout.
Choose the Standard Star (£14.99) for a timeless gift for anyone, the Constellation package (£19.99) to name a star in a zodiac sign or famous constellation, or the Binary Star (£24.99) to name two stars that orbit each other — ideal for couples, twins and best friends.
Instantly. Your certificate, star map and fact sheet arrive by email minutes after ordering, so you can print, share or forward them straight away. If you choose premium printing, your documents are printed on 250gsm card and shipped worldwide.
Yes. You choose the star name yourself — up to 50 characters — and can add a memorable date such as a birthday or wedding day, plus a personal dedication of up to 50 characters.
Yes. Every star is recorded in the Global Star Registry. Enter the certificate number (for example GSR-A1B2C3D4) on our registry page to see your star’s coordinates, constellation and registration details.
Your bespoke star map pinpoints exactly where your star sits, and the fact sheet helps you find it. Clear, dark skies away from city lights give the best view.
Yes. Premium printing on 250gsm A4 card is optional and can be shipped worldwide. Printing and shipping fees are shown at checkout.
